Link Servo Presses

In addition to Amino's leading-edge fluid forming presses, ANAC is also pleased to be able to offer Amino's revolutionary link servo press. Although similar in purpose and function to conventional presses, the link servo press provides several advantages over both traditional mechanical and hydraulic presses.

Amino's link servo presses are actuated by electric servo motors whose output is focused through mechanical linkages. The use of a servo motor to drive the press gives an unheard of degree of control over the movement of the press stroke. These presses can be set to run almost as fast as a conventional mechanical press during high volume production or as slow as a hydraulic press when formability is more of a concern.

Beyond being used to just mimic conventional presses though, the link servo press can be set with any variety of forming curves including;

  • a quick descent until right before contact with the work piece and then slow through the forming stages to ensure part quality
  • holding at pressure at the BDC to ensure a good final form
  • a normal strike followed by several restrikes, all in a single press cycle

The advantages of Amino's link servo press go further than just its revolutionary servo motor control systems. Even the mechanical linkages which transfer this power are designed to help build quality into the parts they are forming. The drive motion of the servo motor is transferred to multiple points on the slide using a single mechanical linkage, ensuring a balanced ascent and descent. This double toggle linkage also helps counteract the impact of eccentric loading.

Another advantage of servo link presses is power consumption. Amino's link servo press consumes only 40% of the power of a comparably sized mechanical press, and only 30% of the power of a hydraulic press. Beyond just lower basic power consumption and power recovery methods such as regenerative braking, the servo motor which drives the press can actual be shut off during loading and unloading eliminating power consumption during these times.
